Almost all winter crops was late sown with scarcely 50% of the area planted for 2020 compared to 2019. Ever since planting crops have to contend with wet soils and any flooding or water logging below the surface has lead to die off of the crop. With the result almost all fields have bare patches most of which are not suitable to re planting. Across the north east waterlogging damage is more acute. Replanting will be necessary in at least 10% of the sown area with hard decisions about replanting in another 15%.
