Aphids

Aphids are a major pest of cereals where there are the vector of BYDV. Yield losses of 3.7t/ha has been recorded in Teagasc winter barley experiments. Integrated Pest Management (IPM) techniques are central to pest management and to reduce crop loss. Cultural control techniques are foremost in pest management as pesticide options are reducing due to product revocations and increasing resistance issues.
