Crop Report Update Number 2 2025

In this report we describe at how winter crops are looking currently and the key tasks that need to be carried out over the coming weeks. The recent good weather has allowed spring crops to be drilled in practically all areas in the country with spring beans, wheat and oats being the first crops to be sown while in malting barley areas there is also some crops being drilled.

When we discuss soil quality, we consider the soil physical, chemical and biological properties.

This section explores the nutrient content and values of organic manures. It also highlights how organic manures can be combined effectively with chemical fertilisers to meet crop nutrient requirements.
