Soil Fertility Statistics
An examination of the most recent tillage soil samples analysed by Teagasc in 2019 indicate that there is continued improvements in soil fertility levels on tillage farms.

P & K Fertiliser Advice
In 2019 crops yields were well above average especially for spring barley compared to 2018. This will have resulted in higher P and K off takes at harvest time.

Organic Manure Management
Organic manures are a valuable source of organic matter, major (N, P, K, S, Mg & Ca) and minor nutrients (Mn, Cu, Zn & B). Efficient use of these nutrients will help improve soil health and supply a proportion of the crops major and minor nutrients during the growing season. Timing and method of application is critical to reduce N losses and maximum retention of slurry N for crop growth.
