In this update we see that winter crops have moved on significantly in the last few weeks with most crops between GS 30 and GS 31. This is a critical time for many key interventions on crops including disease control, pgr application, nitrogen splits and weed control. April is a key month for all crops so getting timings product mixes correct will have a significant effect on final yields.
In this report we describe at how winter crops are looking currently and the key tasks that need to be carried out over the coming weeks. The recent good weather has allowed spring crops to be drilled in practically all areas in the country with spring beans, wheat and oats being the first crops to be sown while in malting barley areas there is also some crops being drilled.
In the first crop update of 2025 we look at how various crops have emerged from the winter months and look forward to the tasks that will need to be addressed in the coming weeks.
